...I saw this year: in front of a shop with products from the city of Kochi (高知) in Shikoku Island and next to Kochi's most famous son, Sakamoto Ryoma (坂本龍馬, 1836-1867), a samurai and important figure in the movement to overturn the Tokugawa Shogunate and the establishment of the Empire of Japan. And while he was a fan of Western influences in Japan (notice he is wearing Western shoes) I'm not sure he'd pose next to a Christmas tree. Or maybe he would.
